Snow

We had a really good snow storm a few weeks ago. We took some pictures of the snow on our property.

Matthew took these of some geese on our field down below our home

The barn

Daddy will be planting corn here pretty soon... it's hard to believe looking at all this snow.

Our New/Old Wood Floor

Last year I got the urge to pull up the carpet in our living room to expose the original, beautiful hardwood flooring. We couldn't stop short of finishing off our downstairs in the kitchen. Here is our progress...

My poor husband had the bulk of the work. He had to pull up four layers of linoleum, backing and glue that needed to be sanded down with 36 grit paper. This was done in 2 hour intervals after the kids nap.

Progress...

You can see one of the layers of linoleum from the 1970's we're guessing. See the pretty green and blue? Why would someone want to cover up such a beautiful, wood floor?

After a good sanding, you can see how pretty it's going to look in it's final form.

What did the kids do during this time? Why, they played choo-choo train with the kitchen chairs.

More progress...

Nearly finished. We still need to do a fine grit sanding and put down some polyurethane to keep it protected. It was hard work and somewhat inconvenient but very well worth it!

Turkey Dinner

Here's one of our White Broad Breasted turkeys we had for dinner recently. I found this huge, iron dutch oven at a flea market a couple of years back. We only paid $25 for it. It's large enough to hold a large turkey in it as you see. I'm sure we'll get lots of use out of it when you kids are teenagers.

All Four of You

Here's a random picture daddy took of you all outside last week.

Leah

Leah, you're almost 16 months old now.

Too cute

Happy face

I love you eyes here Leah

Daddy

Here is your daddy all, of 51 years of age. He sure loves you children. You are the purpose of his life and mine right now. We pray that you will be God loving and God fearing young men and women one day.

Matthew

I always like looking at pictures of our son Matthew. He is so dear to me.

You still look like a baby to me here, dear Matthew. I love you so much.

Our pretty, little Elisapup.

Snow Day

We rarely get any snow here living so close to the ocean. Today was a real treat. Here is Elisabeth showing her snow filled mittens.

Brushing the snow off of the car

Their first snowman. They played for 2 1/2 hours outside this day and had so much fun.

Killing Chickens with Hannah

We let Hannah (3 years old) stay up from her nap today so she could witness daddy killing and butchering some chickens. She's a little sensitive to some things so we weren't too sure how she would handle this feat before her. Here, Hannah and Elisabeth witness daddy catching a chicken.

Hannah running with joy and elation after watching the first slaughter. See the chicken upside down in the cone in the background on the fence?

Daddy walking the already bled chicken to the table

Hannah after the second slaughter... maybe having second thoughts?

One of our chickens. See all the fat? This was an old hen... they have much more abundant fat than the roosters. Daddy ended up slaughtering 6 chickens this day.

Here's a few pictures of our chickens gathering together along the fence.

Our Family Picture

This was taken about a month ago. Though it is not perfect, it's perfect to me. I love seeing us all together and to think we have another on the way who will be with us in August just makes me giddy!
